Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

I always love going to a botanical garden on my birthday, and this year we went to Tower Hill Botanic Garden in the late afternoon, even though it was raining. We thought we wouldn't get to do any shooting, but about 10 minutes after we arrived the rain stopped and the sun came out - a perfect birthday gift!
This is a very unusual Chinese peony, cv 'lois kelsey, and I always enjoy trying to capture it's beauty. The raindrops really helped make this image special.
Processed in Photoshop with Topaz Studio and several textures from Jai Johnson.

I have enjoyed photographing nature since I first learned to use a camera more advanced than my childhood Instamatic! When my husband Rick and I bought our home in Massachusetts back in 1979, we fell in love with the beautiful wooded wetland behind the house, and over the years we have come to love it even more. We also love gardening and the original property was mostly lawn. Over time we updated the landscape many times, and recently we added a naturalistic woodland garden near the wetlands and more cultivated gardens in the front and side yards. I love photographing flowers, and many of my flower photos were taken in our yard or at three very special botanical gardens in New England: Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston,...
